Fuerza Bruta (“Brute Force”), the new sensation from the creators of the international hit De La Guarda, soars as it celebrates its one-year anniversary on Friday, October 24.  Fuerza Bruta pushes the boundaries of theatre in an open- ended run at the Daryl Roth Theatre, previews began October 11, 2007.

Beyond the confines of spoken language, Fuerza Bruta floods the senses in an environment of breathtaking visuals and dynamic music.  Performers run through moving walls, race across a whirling sail overhead and frolic in a watery  world suspended just above the audience.  The non-stop action and kinetic aerial imagery is set to a captivating soundtrack of percussive beats, engaging melodies and ambient music.

Diqui James (De La Guarda Co-founder/Co-creator) and Gaby Kerpel (De La Guarda Composer/Musical Director) have embarked on a project forming a new company that continues to push the boundaries of theatrical creativity, motivation and innovation.  Together with Alejandro Garcia (De La Guarda Technical Director) and Fabio Daquila (De La Guarda Production Supervisior), they created this all new production, which springs from the core of De La Guarda and evolves into a new independent form – devoted to reinventing, transforming, and creating an experience that is unique and unrepeatable.

Fuerza Bruta premiered in Buenos Aires in 2005 and has been seen in Lisbon (2006), London (2006), Buenos Aires (2006), Bogota (2007) and at the 2007 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where it earned critical praise and was honored with the prestigious Bank of Scotland Herald Angel award for “the biggest and best show on the Fringe – the must see event of 2007” (The Herald).  Additionally, Fuerza Bruta played Berlin and Hamburg in Fall 2007.  This show’s predecessor De La Guarda played New York in a smash 6-year Off-Broadway run as the inaugural production at the Daryl Roth Theatre, and also had productions in London, Las Vegas, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Seoul, Tel-Aviv, Amersterdam, Berlin, Tokyo, and other cities.

Fuerza Bruta in New York features performers Hallie Bulleit, Freddy Bosche, Daniel Case, John Hartzell, Joshua Kobak, Gwyneth Larsen, Tamara Levinson, Rose Mallare, Brooke Miyasaki, Jon Morris, Jason Novak, Marilyn Ortiz, Kepani Salgado-Ramos, and is presented by Live Nation Artists Events Group, Ozono Productions and David Binder Productions.

Fuerza Bruta launched its hot, wet and wild Boys Night performances on Friday, May 16.  Originally slated to play once a month, Boys Night has been extended and expanded due to popular demand to play the first and third Friday of each month.  Boys Night features remixed scenes and choreography – putting the men of Fuerza Bruta in the pool and at the fore.  The show is also set to launch the celebrated weekly nightlife event DJ CONNECTION, which was a major hit at De La Guarda, on Thursday, October 23.  DJ CONNECTION performances feature a live DJ woven into the action and an extended performance and dance party for the audience.  DJ CONNECTION shows are slated to run every Thursday at 8:00 PM.
