MCC Theater announced that Annabella Sciorra will play the lead role of 'Barbara' in the company's production of Jim Knable's romantic comedy Spain, directed by Jeremy Dobrish.  Sciorra, perhaps best known for her performance as Gloria Trillo on HBO's "The Sopranos," joins a cast that will also feature Michael Aronov as 'El Conquistador,' Tony Award-nominee Veanne Cox as 'Diversion ,' Erik Jensen as 'John' and Tony Award-nominee Lisa Kron as 'Ancient.'  Previews begin October 10 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street) with performances scheduled through November 17; opening October 30.

"Reeling from an acrimonious divorce, Barbara finds solace in her overactive imagination. After conjuring her dream lover — a sexy Conquistador decked out in a full suit of armor! — the two embark on a fantastical journey which prompts her to give in to her darkest desires.   Jim Knable's seductive modern-day fairy tale mixes romance and whimsy in its exploration of one woman's quest for self-acceptance, contentment and the willingness to love again," describe press notes.

The creative team includes Beowulf Boritt (sets), Jenny Mannis (costumes), Michael Gottlieb (lighting), Jill BC DuBoff (sound) and Rick Sordelet (fight direction).

Performances are Tuesday and Wednesday at 7PM, Thursday and Friday at 8PM, Saturday at 2PM & 8PM, and Sunday at 3PM.  Individual tickets are $60 and are currently available through www.ticketcentral.com or by calling (212) 279-4200.
