Songwriter Peter Yanowitz (of the bands The Wallflowers and Morningwood) premieres his new multimedia song cycle WALKING IN SOHO at the New York Musical Theatre Festival on July 25 at the Studio Theatre at the Pershing Square Signature Center. The show will feature direction and multimedia projection design by Randy Blair (Fat Camp, Spidermusical, Perez Hilton Saves the Universe), and will play 2 performances (6:30 and 9:30).

When a long relationship ends unexpectedly, New York City artist and songwriter Peter Yanowitz finds himself catapulted back into the hunt for a mate. Detailing the sometimes funny, sometimes touching, and occasionally ugly stories of one man?s quest for romance, WALKING IN SOHO explores why we all hate and love to fall in love.

Yanowitz will be joined onstage by model Lisa Davies, and by an on-screen cast of supporting characters including downtown legends Murray Hill, Bridget Everett, and Neal Medlyn. Produced by Dena Hammerstein (Enron, Superior Donuts) and Steve Saporito (Hedwig and the Angry Inch), the show also features additional music/remixes by Ad-Rock of The Beastie Boys and Grammy winner Stefan Graslund; choreography by Ani Taj of The Dance Cartel; lighting design by OBIE winner Keith Parham (Hit the Wall, Tribes, Karen O?s Stop the Virgens); costume design by fashion designer Jessica Wade; puppet design by David Valentine (F#%king Up Everything, Vampire Cowboys); and cinematography by Anthony Jannelli (Silence of the Lambs, Ghostbusters II).

Peter Yanowitz has spent the last 25 years as a songwriter and musician, most notably as a founding member of the bands The Wallflowers and Morningwood. He also served as drummer/band leader/co-producer for Natalie Merchant on her first 3 solo records, which have sold over 10 million copies. Other artists and writers he has performed and recorded with include Yoko Ono, Allen Ginsberg, Wilco, and many more. Yanowitz is currently developing the Broadway musical 15 Minutes with collaborators Rick Elice and Stephen Trask.

The Studio Theatre at the Pershing Square Signature Center is located at 480 W. 42nd street. For more information and tickets, visit NYMF.org.
