Rivertown Theaters' season opener, SHREK THE MUSICAL, under the direction of co- artistic director, Gary Rucker, will have an added performance of the big, splashy musical, opening Friday, September 12 and now running through Sunday, September 28, 2014.

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks film that started it all, we bring the hilarious story of everyone's favorite ogre to dazzling life on the stage.

In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre - not a handsome prince - shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won't shut up, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand...and his name is Shrek.

Performances will play the Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts, 325 Minor St. in the heart of Rivertown, Kenner LA. Plenty of parking on the streets around the theater.

The schedule of performances is as follows:

Fridays Sept. 12, 19 & 26 at 8:00 pm

Saturdays Sept. 13, 20 & 27 at 8:00 pm

Sundays Sept. 14, 21 & 28 at 2:00 pm

Thursdays Sept. 25 at 8:00 pm

Individual ticket prices are: $38.50 for Adults; $36.50 for Seniors; $33.50 for Students/Active Military. Corporate and Individual sponsorships, season tickets, group and military discounts are available as well. To purchase, call the Box Office: (504) 461-9475 or (504) 468- 7221 or visit www.RivertownTheaters.com.
