Peak Performances at Montclair State University presents the Shanghai Quartet in concert at the Alexander Kasser Theater on Saturday, May 7. The program features the Mozart String Quartet No. 20 in D Major, K.499 "Hoffmeister"; the Mendelssohn String Quartet No. 6 in F Minor, op. 80; and the Grieg String Quartet No. 1 in G Minor, op. 27.

The Shanghai Quartet (violinists Weigang Li and Yi-Wen Jiang, violist Honggang Li, and cellist Nicholas Tzavaras) is renowned for passionate musicality and impressive technique that melds the delicacy of Eastern music with the emotional breadth of Western repertoire. Formed at the Shanghai Conservatory in 1983, the Quartet performs throughout Europe, Asia, and North and South America. Since 2002 the Shanghai Quartet has been quartet-in-residence at the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University.

The performance is Saturday, May 7 at 8:00 p.m. at the Alexander Kasser Theater on the campus of Montclair State University.
