New Jersey Theatre Alliance's 20th Anniversary Stage Festival Presents READINGS FROM THE EDGE

This event is part of the Alliance's Stages Festival, the state's largest annual theatre festival that provides free and discounted theatre events for all ages throughout the month of March. Admission is Free.
Ionesco's 1959 play "Rhinoceros", dramatizes logic's folly in the face of evil.
All the citizens' issues seem hilariously and harrowingly beside the point when rhinoceroses are trampling cats, destroying buildings, and making such a racket in the background that it's hard to hear one person's solutions to government over another's ideas for change. Directed by Michael Bias of the Garage Theatre Group.
"1984", Orwell's classic book about a dystopian future where critical thought is suppressed by a totalitarian regime, is once again on the best seller lists. The play, based on the 70 year old book, covers the journey of one person in a world of endless war, where fear and hate are drummed up against foreigners A world in which the government insists that reality is not "something objective, "existing in its own right" - but rather, "whatever the Party holds to be truth is truth."

The Stages Festival offers dozens of performances, workshops, classes, and events at theaters, art centers, libraries, schools, senior centers, and other community venues throughout the state. The program was developed to encourage New Jersey's residents to attend their local professional theaters by making the experience affordable, accessible, and fun. Since its inception 20 years ago, the program has served over 190,000 people.
