Young audiences will learn moving lessons of friendship and love delivered by a most unlikely duo - a spider and a pig! - as Theatreworks USA presents the heartwarming musical "Charlotte's Web" at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre. Performances are on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.
Theatreworks' production of "Charlotte's Web" is based on E.B. White's tender tale of the friendship between a pig named Wilbur and a little gray spider named Charlotte. Wilbur has a problem: how to avoid winding up as pork chops! Charlotte, a fine writer and true comrade, hits on a plan to fool Farmer Zuckerman - she will create a "miracle." Spinning the words "Some Pig" in her web, Charlotte weaves a solution that not only makes Wilbur a prize pig, but ensures his place on the farm forever. This treasured tale, featuring mad-cap and endearing farm animals, explores bravery, selfless love and the true meaning of friendship.
Based in New York City, Theatreworks USA is America's largest and most prolific professional not-for-profit theater company for youth and family audiences. Since 1961, the company has enlightened, entertained and instructed more than 90 million people in 49 states and Canada.
