Lynn Yates, seen regularly on WSMV's Healthbreak for the last 11 years, leads the cast of Exit the Body, at the Towne Centre Theatre in Brentwood, running through August 21. Exit the Body, written by Fred Carmichael, is dexcribed as a classic mystery farce replete with disappearing bodies, stolen diamonds and mistaken identity.

A native of Knoxville, Yates moved to Middle Tennessee in the early '80s and became involved with the Murfreesboro Little Theatre (MLT), performing in shows such as I Remember Mama and Vanities. In the early '90s, she earned a best supporting actress award for her portrayal of Lorraine Sheldon in the classic comedy The Man Who Came to Dinner.

Having stepped away from live theater to raise two sons and pursue a career in corporate communications, Yates returned to the stage in Circle Players' recent To Kill a Mockingbird, her first community theater performance in 20 years. A freelance writer and television personality, Yates is also a professional voice-over artist.

"You get to pretend to be someone else for a while, taking life's everyday stresses and channeling them into wonderfully vibrant characters to create entertaining and uplifting experiences for others. There's simply nothing like it," she said, explaining her love of live theater.

Directed by independent filmmaker Kacy Maxwell, Exit the Body includes a hilarious cast of characters performed by Phillip Brackett, Bob Buchholz, Corey Caldwell, Jackson Hearn, Beth Henderson, Jean Hoogewind, Johnny Peppers, Annie Rice and Rachel Whorton.

Exit The Body runs July 30-August 21, Thursday through Saturday evenings at 8 p.m., with Sunday matinees on August 8 and 15 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and $16 for students.
