The O'Shaughnessy at St. Catherine University has announced its 43rd exciting season, including unique performances by performing artists from across the country, new work premieres by local and national companies, and a fresh line-up of female artists, featured on its Women of Substance Series.

Located on the scenic main campus of St. Catherine University, The O'Shaughnessy is one of the Twin Cities' premiere venues for showcasing the arts. Since opening in 1970, The O'Shaughnessy has hosted a dazzling array of performing arts companies, including the Minnesota Orchestra, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Schubert Club, James Sewell Ballet, TU Dance, Ragamala Dance, and countless others. In addition, the venue features by a number of local and national arts companies, hosts public events, student performances, and multicultural programming with an emphasis on dance, music, and theater. The O'Shaughnessy is the home of the Women of Substance series, which showcases the artistry and innovative work of women, both prominent and emerging in their field, whose voices need to be heard.

*Indigo Girls - A Benefit for Honor The Earth-for land, water, and future generations. Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. On their fourteenth studio album, Grammy-winning folk-rock duo Indigo Girls, (Amy Ray and Emily Saliers), deliver a beautifully-crafted batch of songs that revel in spirited simplicity. Opening for the event will be special musical guests Lyz Jaakola & Neeconis Women Singers to help enhance the spirit of the event and further address the mission of Honor The Earth.

*Mohona: Estuaries of Desire - Friday, September 20, and Saturday, September 21, 2013, at 8:00 p.m. Created as a multi-disciplinary, total theater experience that invites audience participation, "Mohona" relates stories and layers images of women's work and lives in relation to water to reflect and pose questions about access to this natural resource and the systematic violence against people that results when it is subject to private control.

VoicePlay - Friday, October 4, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. VoicePlay is unlike any theatrical experience available today, recreating the orchestrated sound of an entire musical production with nothing but the human voice. Originally from Orlando, Florida, VoicePlay performs their own incredible brand of entertainment across the country and around the world.

*Gallim Dance - Saturday, October 12, 2013, at 8:00 p.m. As Artistic Director and choreographer of Gallim Dance, Andrea Miller has developed an internationally acclaimed company hailed by The New York Times as "excellent [and] inventive" and by The New York Pressfor its "delicious strangeness, fierce aggression, and raw beauty." Blush (2009) takes the moment of blushing and expands it into a journey of fiery, punctuated physicality by six dancers.

*Anything We Want: An Evening with Fiona Apple & Blake Mills - Monday, October 13, 2013, at 8:00 p.m. The "Anything We Want" tour will feature songs from Grammy award-winning artist Fiona Apple and Blake Mills' respective catalogues as well as some original yet-to-be released material. The element of surprise surrounding this performance is perfect for those that like to be on The Edge of their seats, giving the ultimate one-of-a-kind entertainment experience.

Karna: The Abandoned Hero - Friday, November 1, and Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. Karna - The Abandoned Hero is a dance opera written by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, based on a poem from the epic Mahabharata. A collaboration between Katha Dance and an array of nationally known Minnesota artists, the piece will feature Rita Mustaphi's choreography, blues and gospel-inspired musical score by J.D. Steele, singing by RoBert Robinson Music, direction by Marcela Lorca, along with original movement-painting by local artist Deb Shree to tell the story of Karna (a great martial arts warrior) and Kunti's (his mother) troubled relationship.

*Voice - Sunday, November 10, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in the the Our Lady of Victory Chapel at St. Catherine University. Making their US tour debut, this A Cappella trio explores repertoire of Hildegard von Bingen and other early masters, world folk song arrangements, and contemporary compositions. Their distinctive sound is driven by individual voices that blend to create beautiful harmonies, and choice of repertoire reflects the style of music they most enjoy performing.

*Kate Weare Company - Thursday, December 5, 2013, at 7:30 p.m., Featuring Garden (2011) with excerpts from Dark Lark (2013), Weare creates dance that seeks to merge the mind and the gut through the power and persuasiveness of the moving body. With both rawness and precision, she maps a humanism that is contemporary, disquieting, and profoundly stirring.

*Katie McMahon's Celtic Christmas - Friday, December 13, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. Dubbed Minnesota's own "Celtic Woman," Katie McMahon is best known as the original voice of Riverdance. Katie has graced the stage of The O'Shaughnessy for over 10 years, becoming one of the theater's liveliest holiday traditions. Her ode to the holidays, Celtic Christmas celebrates the season through a family-friendly program of traditional Christmas carols, stories and lively Irish dance.

The Love Show, with Kevin Kling - Saturday, February 8, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. Few storytellers can take you from the brink of tears to a belly laugh as adeptly and delightfully as monologist and playwright Kevin Kling can! . Join Kevin, along with honey-throated actor/singers Claudia Schmidt, Simone Perrin, Dane Stauffer and Prudence Johnson, and pianist-extraordinaire Dan Chouinard as they explore the subject of love: the ups and downs, the thrills and spills. The Love Show promises to be an evening of fun for sweethearts and friends alike!

Red House Records North Stars - Saturday, February 22, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. Back by popular demand, Red House Records and The O'Shaughnessy team up for another night of extraordinary music, setting their sights North and welcoming award -winning Canadian artists Ruth Moody and The Bills to The O'Shaughnessy stage!

*The Student - Thursday, April 3, 2013, and Friday, April 4, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. Choreographer Vanessa Voskuil collaborates with award-winning composer Janika Vandervelde and sound artist Jesse Whitney of Abby Wolf's & Her Claws in this epic movement, visual, and music theater performance piece about learning, knowing and being.
