Orlando Repertory Theatre (The REP), along with presenting partner, Universal Orlando Foundation and supporting partner Mears Motor Transportation, present the Newbery Medal winning classic, A Wrinkle In Time this fall. This production runs October 6 to November 6, 2011 with public performances on Saturdays at 12pm and 4pm and Sundays at 2pm.

Based on the award-winning novel by Madeleine L-Engle, the play follows the story of Meg, an outcast teenager, and her peculiar little brother Charles Wallace as they set out on a mysterious journey through time and space to rescue their lost father. Along the way, they encounter strange characters, both good and evil, which shape the children's lives in ways they do not expect.

"Meg and Charles Wallace quest to find their impossibly lost father because their family is neither grounded nor whole without him," says director Gary Cadwallader. "After Charles Wallace is seemingly lost forever, his older sister Meg must summon all the strength and brain power she can to single-handedly find him and release him from the grips of evil.

"Understanding what was going on in America when A Wrinkle In Time was written in 1962 gives us a number of clues about the Dark Thing threatening Meg's (and our) world. Madeleine L'Engle warns us about blind conformity and the danger of being a willing follower of autocratic thought. But it's more than just world issues. L'Engle wanted her female protagonist to resist teen conformity and appreciate and respect herself and her family's unique gifts. Learning to love our individual and distinctive identity is a worthwhile journey; a journey that is difficult but ultimately rich and rewarding."

In addition to regular performances, The REP is also proud to present Sonny's Family Night on October 22. Join us for a delicious dinner provided by Sonny's Bar-B-Q after the 4pm show. Tickets are an extra $5 for adults and kids under 17 years of age eat free (2 kids eat free with the purchase of every adult meal)! Additionally, a Backstage Tour is given on October 15 following the 4pm show at a cost of $5 per person. Space for both these events is limited so be sure to reserve your place in advance with the Box Office.
