What has 21 hit songs, 47 set pieces, 55 sound cues, 119 light cues, and 311 breathtaking costume pieces worn by a cast of 24 incredibly talented actors, singers, and dancers, who have cumulatively performed for 657 years in 599 productions over 15 states, Puerto Rico, and France? Nicky Wood's Welcome to Broadway!

Wood, a critically acclaimed performer, director, and choreographer, returns to the Barn Theatre, his hometown playhouse, to bring the Treasure Coast community one of the most scintillatingly entertaining musical reviews that South Florida has ever seen.

"There's a lot of pizazz in it. A lot of background that other shows do very simply," said cast member and legendary songstress, Jo Lovaglio, former headliner of The Fabulous Footnotes.

Though Wood is only 19, he has performed for over a decade on stages from Palm Beach, Florida, to Beverly Hills, California. He is a senior at The University of Central Florida, where he recently received a Kennedy Center ACTF nomination for Student Direction of the Tony-Award-Winning Broadway musical, Nine.

This is his fourth production as a consummate artist at The Barn Theatre. By definition, a consummate artist is an accomplished artist who acts as the apex of a creative process. By Wood's definition, this means producing, directing, choreographing, set designing, sound designing, marketing, and starring in a production.

Welcome to Broadway is a feel-good revue featuring all the charm of Gene Kelly and zeal of Fred Astaire. The show includes tunes from Irving Berlin to Cole Porter, including "Let Yourself Go," "Too Darn Hot," "Lullaby of Broadway," "Anything Goes," "Singing in the Rain," and "De Lovely."

This refreshing and unforgettable theatrical experience allows audience members to escape the stress of everyday life and turn back the clock. It transports one to a time when the scent of hot apple pie would waft into the streets from the windows left open after supper, as families would crowd around their television sets to watch the Ed Sullivan Show. Welcome to Broadway embraces old fashion values while displaying a concomitantly exciting and edgy spirit.

With gigantic production numbers, sidesplitting personalities, beautiful women, good-looking guys, striking vocalists, and jazz and tap dances that will take your breath away, the show promises fun for the whole family and something for everyone to enjoy.Greta Goldstein, cast member, Barn Board Member, and Burt Reynolds apprentice, remarked, "...the audience will be leaving with smiles on their faces and songs on their tongues."

Wood's last show at the Barn, Welcome to Vegas, performed for a sold-out run and nearly 100 patrons were turned away at the door. As a result, Welcome to Broadway has added a Saturday matinee performance to the five-show weekend.

Jeanette Mazzella, cast member, the Barn's Artistic Vice President, former President of Shiloh Theatrical Productions, exclaimed, "We've only been in rehearsal a week and everything is going so quickly and the show is going so well. This show is going to be sold out so you need to get your tickets now. Right away!"

The show runs this weekend, June 25-27 at 8 PM and June 27-28 at 2 PM at the Barn Theatre (2400 SE Ocean Blvd, Stuart, FL 34995). For tickets, call 772-287-4884 or visit www.barn-theatre.com. Tickets are $20, and a $15 group rate is available for groups of ten or more.
