Unspoken: Shakespeare’s Personae in Peril is a Scholarship Selection for the HOLLYWOOD FRINGE FEST '17 The 2nd comedy in playwright Blaire Baron’s “Spoken” Trilogy, giving new life and recognition to many “Unsung” Shakespearean characters. In this play, The Canon is about to be privatized. A group of minor Shakespeare Actor-Characters are held in a Greenroom while the new “Funders” vote on permanent cuts and modern adaptations to the Canon. They must stand before the Funders and fight for their relevance. A bittersweet comedy, the noteworthy theme embraces all marginalized people and groups having to claim their right to exist in a rapidly intolerant society. Another layer of the play is the bittersweet life of an actor – and what happens when all the sacrifices made for this life might – or might not – have been worth it. The minor characters featured are Gregory (Romeo and Juliet), Blind Gobbo (Merchant of Venice), the Philostrate (Midsummer Nights Dream), Sly (Taming of the Shrew), Hecate(Macbeth) and Fortinbras(Hamlet)
