The Colburn School Announces 2012-2013 Season

Colburn School President and Chief Executive Officer Sel Kardan today announced details defined by innovation and growth for The Colburn School's Conservatory of Music and Academy 2012-2013 academic year/performance season. The announcement included information on continuing collaborations with its neighbor, Los Angeles Opera's Domingo-Thornton Young Artists Program; the introduction of new performance series and a new partnership; the tenth anniversary season of The Colburn Conservatory of Music and Colburn Orchestra; new faculty members; and expansions to education and community engagement programs.

President Kardan also announced a number of programming highlights for the 2012–2013 season. Of the more than 300 student/faculty performances offered to Southern California audiences during the year, of special note is the Colburn Orchestra concert at Walt Disney Concert Hall under the baton of Los Angeles Philharmonic Music Director Gustavo Dudamel. The Colburn Chamber Music Society (CCMS) also offers performances featuring celebrated guest artists, including acclaimed composer/ double bassist Edgar Meyer; popular French ensemble the Ebène Quartet; and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Principal Clarinet and Colburn School alum Richie Hawley.
