Effective January 1 2017, The 5 & Dime is moving into a permanent home at 112 E. Adams St. in Downtown Jacksonville. The building is owned and operated by Elias Hionides of Petra Management. Former tenants include Forge 3D Printing Studio and Icon Boutique adjacent to Burro Bar and Chomp Chomp.

For The 5 & Dime, the nomadic theatre company based in Jacksonville's Urban Core, a permanent home will greatly improve service and experience for audiences and volunteers with climate control, handicap accessibility, restrooms, dressing rooms, actors' lounge, script library, lobby/gallery space, box office, refreshment station, offices, prop and costume storage, nearby public parking and an updated performance space.

Upon completion, The 5 & Dime will occupy 3,400 square feet inside five storefronts located at the corner of E. Adams and Ocean Streets. "Having a permanent home will help us provide an amazing audience and volunteer experience. Five and a half years ago we began as a nomadic theatre company performing in many locations in the Downtown and Riverside areas, such as The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, The Church of the Good Shepherd, Jacksonville Public Library, MOSH, The Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum, MOCA, WJCT, CoRK, Pangea Live and Underbelly, just to name a few. A permanent home will offer us more visibility and structure to allow us to offer more theatrical events and performances. In 2017 we will offer a six-show line up with two musicals and four plays in addition to a readers theatre series and two Cabarets. We will also be able to invite other groups, organizations and artists to rent our space for their event, meeting or performance needs. We are also extremely excited to fill a void in The Urban Core being a live theatre utilizing local talent from around Jacksonville and surrounding areas" said Managing Director, Lee Hamby.

Construction of the new space is slated to be completed in mid-January, just in time for a fundraiser cabaret show called "LIVE at The 5 & Dime: An Evening of Song" on January 20 & 21 at 8 p.m.

The company's first production of 2017 will be " 'night, Mother" by Marsha Norman opening February 17th and running for three weekends through March 4. Directed by Bradley Akers, "' 'night, Mother" will star Lindsay Curry and Brooks Anne Meierdierks.

The 5 & Dime's new address will be:

112 East Adams St.
