Jesus Christ Superstar, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s masterpiece, has made history as one of the most famous and beloved musicals of all time. Directed by Massimo Romeo Piparo, an internationally acclaimed author and director for his extraordinarily innovative style, the Italian version in English of this musical is now being performed for its twentieth year. A true record breaker, it has been presented in 4 different editions, for an unheard-of 12 years in a row in Italian Theatres from 1995 to 2014. Enjoyed by more than 1.200.000 viewers, in its various versions it has featured more than 120 artists and more than 1300 performances in 84 Italian cities. This version was also presented in 2015 in Den Haag (Netherlands) where runs for 11 sold-out performances. This was the first time that the Really Useful Group has granted to an Italian company the rights to a European tour of the show. The secret of this huge success is the perfect combination between rock music, the musical and a timeless story: the greatest Rock Opera. This memorable edition of Jesus Christ Superstar, declared one of the major theatrical event of last year. An event with the exceptional world-famous artist in the leading role: Ted Neeley, the performer who defined Jesus’ role in the historical movie by Norman Jewison in 1973. With this special edition Piparo will celebrate the special artistic landmark: he will become the only director of the Italian stage to have worked with both stars of the film. In 2000, year of the Holy Jubilee, he directed the much missed Carl Anderson, Judas in the movie, as Judas once again, for two years of triumphant success. The show is performed in English with a live orchestra.
