Four Venues in the Island of Ireland are set to welcome one of the most exotic and stunning productions this year when Ballet Manila tours the country with their new production "Philippine Ballet Gala Concert/East Meets West".

This world famous ballet company, which has toured across the world with its breathtaking productions, will be visiting Ireland for the first time in its company history. The current tour is being supported by the Irish based Detail Design Production Company, who intend to take Ballet Manila on a whirlwind 4 night tour of some of the most prestigious venues on the island of Ireland.

"East Meets West" is a breathtaking show bringing together the very best in Russian inspired Ballet mixed with an exotic Asian twist, including fabulous costumes and dance works inspired by Asian Martialarts and Sayo sa Pamlang. This stunning new production will feature one of the Asia's most admired and famous prima ballerinas, Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, who is delighted to be performing in Ireland for the first time. "I have heard of several of the venues that we intend to visit in Ireland and I am thrilled not only to be dancing on those stages, but I am also looking forward to meeting the people of Ireland" commented Lisa Macuja-Elizalde at the launch of the tour.

"This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience a spectacle of classical, contemporary, neo classical and Filipino ballet comented by Teresa Meaney who is assisting Ballet Manila with their Irish tour.

The Philippine Ambassador to Ireland also said that Ballet Manila will be a source of pride of the Filipino Community in Ireland and will offer the Irish audience another insight and prespective to Philippine Culture and Artistry.

This world famous ballet company, which has performed across the world with its breathtaking performances, will bring together the very best in Russian inspired ballet mixed with Filipino and Asian twists. With over 4,000 local performances in 48 cities and more (129 foreign performances or 85 cities including international performances) Ballet Manila is headed by the Philippines most admired prima ballerina Lisa Macuja- Elizalde and Artistic Associate Osias Barroso Jr. Lisa Macuja Elizalde was trained in the Leningrad State Institute of Choreography in Russia and is the first-ever foreign soloist to be invited to join the prestigious Kirov Ballet. She has danced over 300 full-length roles spanning five continents. Joining Macuja-Elizalde onstage are 17 professional dancers who are recipients of international competition awards.

The show highlights some of the company's premiere works that include the Romeo and Juliet pas de deux from the full-length ballet - the balcony scene shows the passion and abandonment of young love. Choreography by Sergei Vikulov, Music by Prokofiev.

Arnis....The movements of this Filipino Martial Arts of wielding yantok sticks, as widely practiced long before the coming of the Spaniards to the Philippines, are explored by combining martial arts and dance. Choreography by Ric Culalic, Music by Gabrielle Roth & the Mirrors.

Sotto Voce....The seduction of whispers...The ripples of a lake... The strength of simplicity... The warmth of a woman's calm... Choreography by Augustus Damian III, Music by Canon in D Major by J. Pachebel

Don Quixote Grande Pas De Deux...the highlight of Act 3 of the full length ballet Kitri is given by her father's blessing to marry her beloved but poor barber suitor Basilio. This Spanish pas de deux is full of exciting lifts, turns and leaps that make for a technical showcase of fiery dancing by Alexander Gorsky to the music of Ludwig Minkus

Reve... I stand waiting for the time...within the cycle of Time... For the healing of the brothers with their goals and dreams.. Live in balance and harmony... with each of the Other... like brothers...Choreography by Ernest Mandap, Music by Apocalyptica (Nothing Else Matters).

Dulce, this ballroom suites revolves around a couple who fell in love and got married. A very powerful piece that showcases various ballroom dances like cha-cha, samba, rumba, waltz, tango and pasadoble. Choreography by Alberto Dimarucut and Dance Coach by Brian Lorenz Babon, Music by Various Artists.

Ethnic Dance --- The dance consists of Sagayan, a dance to drive away evil spirits, Pang-alay, a dance to show the beauty and gracefulness of the hands, Kzuduratan, a dance to show a manner of walking, Kuntao, which is a dance of the martial arts, and Singkil, a dance depicting a Princess' escape from the perils of an earthquake. Filipino Music and Dance --- Amusing, enticing and refreshing vignettes of romance, happiness, hardships and success performed in contemporary Original Pilipino Music. Choreography by Tony Fabella and Gerardo Francisco.
