Feature: Linda Kaun's Art Exhibition: The Power of You

Artist Linda Kaun will exhibit seven Wise Council figures, accompanying visual art journals and a series of mixed-media Chakra Artworks in conjunction with the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival 2016.

The exhibition will be free of charge and located inside the Casa Luna Restaurant's downstairs gallery. The opening is on Tuesday evening at 7.30 PM (Bali time) on 25 October and continues through 30 October. Hours of the show are 9 AM - 11 PM, daily.

The theme of this year's Ubud Writers Festival is the Hindu concept "Tat Tvam Asi", which means "I am you. You are me. We are One". A basic idea behind this is if I harm you, I am, in fact, harming myself. Ms. Kaun's artworks explore this from the other side of the lens.

"Our true power comes from loving and embracing all the parts of our self. The more we do this, the more love comes out from us and changes the world around us," states Ms. Kaun. The exhibition documents the Inner Dialogue process she used to meet various aspects of herself. These transformed into seven Wise Council figures, 81cm tall, and a series of art journals.

Kaun continues, "Another part of loving our self, is becoming more conscious of our energy system called the Chakras. Releasing blocks in our chakras helps us stop projecting our own fears outward and be a clear channel of love instead." The artist embeds healing, cleansing energy into each original chakra artwork, which acts as a clearing tool when someone meditates on the image.

After 30 years as an international, self-taught fine art batik painter and a Master of Social Work, Linda Kaun now explores art, words and spirit as tools for personal transformation. Her artworks are deeply personal on one level, yet touch into the universal truths of each person who views them.
