The Grand 1894 Opera House hosts two performances of the legendary Broadway musical Guys and Dolls, Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 3 pm and 8 pm.

Based on Damon Runyan's colorful characters with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, Guys and Dolls opened on Broadway in 1951 and ran for 1,200 performances. The show garnered five Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Choreography, and Best Director of a Musical. Guys and Dolls has enjoyed several Broadway and London revivals, as well as a 1955 film adaptation starring Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons, Frank Sinatra and Vivian Blaine.

This classic Broadway musical delights audiences with a colorful array of high-stakes gamblers, a bevy of dance-hall "dolls," and the conscientious members of the "Save-a-Soul" Mission, all of whom find they have more in common than the sidewalks they share in 1940s New York. The enduring popularity of the show stems from its memorable characters, stylish dance numbers, and 14 unforgettable Frank Loesser songs, including "Luck Be a Lady," "If I Were a Bell," "Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat," and "A Bushel and a Peck." This performance is sponsored in part by The Galveston County Daily News, Mitchell Historic Properties and The Galveston Restaurant Association.
