As the innovator of music, the inventor of the "excited style", the conductor of the St. Mark's Basilica - as Claudio Monteverdi to decided to make the odyssey to present an opera, he was already over seventy years old. Since his Orfeo much time had passed, and the taste of the Venetians was different from the Duke of Mantua. But Monteverdi knew what he could. Gods, heroes and villains he let occur, he gave everyone the right musical color. - Odysseus arrives against the will of Poseidon to the local banks. Unstoppable he approaches in the form of a dilapidated old man of fortune hunters society that harassed his wife and squanders his wealth. No one recognizes him. And yet he is the only one who can bend the mighty bow in the palace. The showdown begins.

Director Markus Bothe will zoom back in his pictorial language staging together with the renowned baroque conductor Jörg Halubek and his ensemble il Gusto Barocco the 17th century very close to us.
