Jorma Elo, choreographer with the Boston Ballet, visits Helsinki again. This time there is a promise of imaginative pyrotechnics, as the colourful characters from Lewis Carroll’s classics Alice in Wonderland (1865) and Through the Looking-glass (1871) take to the stage in the main auditorium.

Jorma Elo’s inventive movement language has always been based on the vocabulary of classical ballet. In Alice in Wonderland, Elo aims to create an even more classical choreography: “I came across Alice a few years ago when searching for a subject for a new full-length ballet. I had never read the book before, but I immediately realised that the story was made for ballet.”
