A bit of Broadway and Barn Theatre history returns to the historic playhouse, now celebrating its 68th season where FIDDLER ON THE ROOF starring Robert Newman opens Tuesday, July 8 for a two week engagement through Sunday, July 20.

Based on Sholom Alechiem's stories, with a book by Joseph Stein, and an unforgettable score by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick,FIDDLER is not only one of Broadway's longest-running shows, but one of the most acclaimed and performed musicals world-wide.

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF has also proven to be one of the Barn's biggest hits, having been presented five times: In 1971, a world premiere in the summer stock field, 1975, 1982, 1995, and 2005. This year's production stars Robert Newman as the dairy man with direction by Eric Parker. The show will feature Barn leading lady Penelope Alex, as Golde, Melissa Cotton, as Tzeitel, Kevin Robert White, as Motel, Jamey Grisham, as Perchik, and Charlie King as Lazar Wolf; as well as Equity Membership Candidates, Hannah Eakin, as Hodel, Alexandra Jaeb as Chava, Jackie Gubow as Yente, Josh Meredith as Fyedka, and Lindsay Maron as Fruma-Sarah.

Set in pre-Revolutionary Russia, FIDDLER details the travails Tevye, the village's milkman. Blessed with five daughters, Tevye and his long-suffering wife, Golde, enlist a matchmaker as is the "tradition," to find husbands for their daughters. Tevye struggles as control of his world comes to an end - as he and all the other residents of their village of Anatevka are driven from their homeland. The Bock and Harnick score contains some of the most beautiful music ever written for the stage ~ "Tradition", "Matchmaker, Matchmaker", "Sunrise, Sunset", and "Far from the Home I Love", and "Miracle of Miracles" to name a few.

Rounding out the creative team is Matt Shabala as Music Director, Jamey Grisham as Choreographer, Kerith Parashak as Scenic Designer. Michael Wilson Morgan is Costume Designer, Paul Collins is Lighting Designer, Sam Silva is Sound Designer, and Properties are designed by Bethany Edlund.
