Center Stage Jackson, in partnership with Jackson Public Schools, is pleased to announce the second Youth Theater show of CSJ's fifteenth season with the musical "Oz!" based on the classic story by L. Frank Baum. The show is written by Tim Kelly with music and lyrics by Bill Francour. Performances will be held on Friday, March 20 and Saturday March 21 at 7:00 pm and on Sunday, March 22 at 2:00 at the Middle School at Parkside Kiesel Auditorium, 2400 4th Street, Jackson.

The timeless "Wizard of Oz" tale has been adapted into a dazzling musical. A cyclone carries Dorothy and Toto to the magical Land of Oz. When Dorothy's house squashes the Wicked Witch of the East, she is ecstatically thanked by the liberated Munchkins and given permission to wear the witch's powerful silver slippers. From there, Baum's lovable characters, rubber-legged Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion and Tin Woodsman, join Dorothy on a journey to meet the great Oz. While on their trek, they battle the Wicked Witch of the West, who is determined to get revenge for the death of her sister.

The cast includes 92 young performers in grades three through nine, representing 30 different elementary, middle and high schools in Jackson and Hillsdale Counties as well as home schoolers.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students 12 and under and are available only at the door.
The show is directed by Melissa McElhone with musical direction by Sarah Sanders and choreography by Robin Carson.
