The Wilson Center for Innovation and Leadership at Grinnell College has invited Sustainable Producer Antonio Saillant, Owner of Angel Light Communications, to be a keynote speaker for their event entitled "An Intersection between Film and Sustainability".

Saillant will conduct a workshop and presentation, Q&A, introduction to film and television, theatrical production as well as screen writing and is very excited to explore policy and environmental studies with all students.

For most of his life, Saillant has been a trailblazer and a leader within both film and sustainability industries. Rising from an energy engineer, an actor, film and television producer, and CEO of his company to an environmental leader and advocate on climate change. He has devoted his time speaking at Universities about the importance of 'going green' and saving our environment. Saillant is an inspiring supporter of the environment. His message being, "One World, One Race, The Human Race". Saillant hopes to protect the quality of life and is truly dedicated to tackle our region's energy challenges and harness the economic opportunities presented by clean renewable energy.

Through Angel Light Communications, Saillant is actively working with small independent movie companies and helping them go green and following Governor Cuomo's solar goal for New York. Saillant is known to train a lot of students for careers in entertainment-be it film, music, drama, sports or TV and radio. He was nominated for The 2014 Gotham Green Awards under the category, Green Initiative and is also a member of the Green Festival Advisory Board as Head of their Film Division.

Saillant worked on high level film projects, learning the nuts and bolts of production and spent several years shadowing his mentor and friend, Ted Kotcheff, Executive Producer of NBC's popular television police drama series, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. Saillant gained knowledge and insight into how the industry works at the studio level. He produced his first film, "Heterosexuals" and then followed up with "The Ascension" and two short films "Red Right Wrong" and "The Truth Behind the Chords."

He has worked with visual effects master, Gareth Edwards, director of Disney's successful, "Rogue One, A Star Wars Story" whose previous work includes elaborate depictions of apocalyptic tornadoes and solar storms for the American series "Perfect Disaster."

Saillant has joined Healing Seekers as a consultant. Healing Seekers is where exploration and discovery bring heightened awareness to the value and significance of every life form, especially as it relates to the health and healing of the world. They trek to Planet Earth's most biologically rich areas, exploring the environment, life species, and the indigenous cultures to bring these discoveries and experiences to others.

Committee member, Kaitie Hess, states that the students at Grinnell come from nearly every state and more than 60 countries. They come with varied geographic, ethnic, racial, religious, and socioeconomic experiences, but thanks to their passion, intellectual curiosity and lively interest in the world and each other, they form an incredibly close-knit community.

"Sustainable development and sustainable awareness practices create a cleaner and healthier environment for everyone and generations to come and it is part of our responsibility to continue the commitment to reduce our impact on climate change and the environment and to be on the forefront of sustainable business practices" states Saillant.
