The concert will feature holiday favorites as well as the return of his cast of fantastic musicians. Nick Rieser will be on piano, Brooke Peters will be returning from her tour of the Caribbean to play bass, Joel Gettys will be the drummer, and Dave Rezek will be playing trumpet as well as co-arranging the composition of the show.

Max Wellman burst on the local jazz scene with the 2006 release of ‘Gimme the Keys,' an EP comprised of five covers including ‘You Don't Know Me.' Since then he's becoming better known all the time. With a voice that evokes jazz legends, Wellman had become a mainstay on the local jazz scene as front man for assorted combos.

His growing resume is highlighted by the chance to open for Grammy nominee Vanessa Carlton. He also shared a stage with international opera star Simon Estes. In July of 2010 he headlined his first show at Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines with his big band and sold out the landmark venue. He has also been a featured performer at events ranging from the renowned Des Moines Art Festival to the city's popular Jazz in July series.

In 2009 Wellman released his second CD, ‘Comes Love,' a full-length production that included four of his own original tunes and followed that up in the fall of 2010 with a live recording of his rousing big band show at Hoyt Sherman Place.

Currently, MAX WELLMAN - HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS is only available as an optional add-on to the he LIVE AT THE TEMPLE six-concert package. Package prices are on sale now online at CivicCenter.org or in person at the Civic Center Ticket Office.
