Tickets are now on sale for the creepiest and kookiest costume party in Des Moines, the Des Moines Community Playhouse's Hollywood Halloween. This year's theme is based on "The Addams Family," the final musical on the Playhouse's Mainstage this season. The mysterious and spooky fun includes dancing to Final Mix, a unique silent auction with one-of-a-kind Playhouse opportunities, a fortune teller, and even more kooky surprises.

For 12 years, Central Iowans have come together to celebrate the Des Moines Community Playhouse at the institution's Hollywood Halloween costume party. The event, which benefits the Kate Goldman Children's Theatre and other educational programs conducted by the Playhouse, has long been a highlight of the fall social calendar. Costumes at the event have ranged from the typical vampire and witch to Hurricane Katrina and Edward Scissorhands and his shrub.

Unique silent auction items include vacation packages such as a week in Florida, jewelry by Bruce Owen, a private wine tasting with sommelier Abbe Hendricks, a week of personalized weather forecasts by WHO-TV13 meteorologist Jeriann Ritter, and artwork by local artists. The Playhouse is also auctioning walk-on roles and backstage experiences.

The fun and fright begin at 7:30 PM on Friday, Oct. 24, at the Temple for Performing Arts (1011 Locust Street). A young professional ticket rate is available for $60.00 (standard tickets, $100.00), and includes heavy hors d'oeuvres, hosted beer and wine, and music.
