The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge is the trial of the century! A year after his miraculous transformation, Ebenezer Scrooge is back to his old ways and is suing Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future for breaking and entering, kidnapping, slander, pain and suffering, attempted murder and the intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The ghosts employ Solomon Rothschild, England's most charismatic, savvy, and clever barrister. Scrooge, that old penny pincher, represents himself. One by one, Bob Cratchit, Scrooge's nephew Fred, solicitor and philanthropist Sara Anne Wainwright, and the ghosts themselves take the witness stand to give their account of the night in question.

The surprise ending should actually take no one by surprise. And it is not a spoiler alert to say this one ends happily. . . . well, for most everyone!

Here is a description of the characters:

Bailiff (Mr. Connolly)- Kindly bailiff with an IQ somewhat south of average.

Judge Pearson- The newly crowned king of Humbug and judge of this courtroom.

Solomon Rothschild- England's most savvy and clever barrister. Quite pompous.

Scrooge- Miserly owner of a London counting-house. I.e. accounting firm

Bob Cratchit- Scrooge's clerk, a kind, mild, and very poor man with a large family.

Fred- Scrooge's nephew, a genial man who loves Christmas.

Mrs. Cratchit- Bob's wife, a kind and loving woman.

Fan- Scrooge's sister and Fred's mother. She died giving birth to Fred.

Ghost of Xmas Yet to Come- Phantom in hooded robe. Presented Scrooge a view of his lonely death.

Translator- Can speak Ghost and translates for the Ghost of Xmas yet to come.

Ghost of Christmas Past- Curious apparition who took Scrooge on a tour of his past Christmases.

Belle- Scrooge's beautiful former fiancée. He lost her due to his greed.

Sara- Wealthy dowager, collects for poor and needy.

Mrs. Dilber- An old beggar woman with a deep cockney accent.
