The NEW musical, Project Youth, book by Stephanie Riggs, music by Jeff Kinman and Adam C.Wright, lyrics by Stephanie Riggs and Adam C.Wright, will run at the MCL Grand Theatre, 100 North Charles Street, April 30, May 1, 2, and 3 at 7:30 p.m. and May 3 and 4 at 3:00 p.m.

Presented by Our Productions Theatre Co./Theatre FMPAT's Youth & Family Series with The Young Artist Training Program. This contemporary rock musical, set in the year 2110, revolves around a group of children, pre-planned by their parents to save the world from a certain ecological demise. The kids and teens, must figure out their top secret mission to play their part in saving the planet...before it is too late.

The production is directed by Stephanie Riggs, with music direction by Mark Mullino, choreography by Laura Pedersen, and guest star Preston Page as "Christopher".

The musical made it's first workshop presentation in 2008, with Theatre FMPAT, and has since undergone several re-writes and had several new songs added. Stephanie Riggs, who wrote the book and co-wrote the lyrics with Adam C. Wright says, "to have a chance to see what worked beautifully in 2008 and what didn't, and go back to the drawing board with my outstanding production team and cast has been such a gift. New works are always difficult to produce and get off the ground, but this show speaks to young people, and they are very passionate about having a work that is filled with not only a social statement, but challenging music and characters for them to delve into. It is an exciting project. The idea that a group of children and teenagers could save our planet is powerful, and has a great thread of truth in it."

The music for the show, composed by Jeff Kinman and Adam C. Wright, has been a bittersweet journey. Kinman passed away in late 2012, so the presentation of this work in 2014 is especially poignant for his co-composer, Wright, Riggs, Pedersen and several of the returning original cast members and production team. "We feel letting this piece live on is a beautiful tribute to Jeff," says Riggs.
