YALE SCHOOL OF DRAMA has appointed Walton Wilson as Chair of the Acting Department, effective July 1, 2014. He will succeed Lloyd Richards Professor Ron Van Lieu, who will continue to teach full-time in the Acting Department at Yale School of Drama, which he has chaired since coming to the School of Drama in 2004.

Walton Wilson has been a teacher of Voice since 1999 and Associate Chair of the Acting Department at Yale School of Drama since 2004. He also serves as Voice and Speech Advisor at Yale Repertory Theatre.

"Ron Van Lieu's leadership of the Acting Department has been exemplary: the individuality, creativity, resilience, and professional accomplishment of actors who have graduated from the School of Drama since his arrival-and of those actors who are among us now-are the vital signs of the department's strength," said Dean James Bundy. "We all celebrate his willingness to continue his illustrious career, sharing his wisdom in our classrooms for years to come, at the same time that we thank him for his expert guidance of the Acting program during a decade of remarkable achievement."

Bundy continued, "Walton Wilson has been an influential and resourceful teacher and mentor, recruiter of faculty, and administrator of the Acting Department. He serves the School and Yale Rep with tireless discernment and generosity of spirit that wholly qualify him to assume leadership of a department with more than 20 faculty members and nearly 50 students."
