After six years of service, Eileen Wiseman, Long Wharf Theatre's director of development, will leave the theatre to become the Director of Strategic Initiatives at The Tow Foundation.

"We have been grateful for both her good advice and her tremendous passion for Long Wharf. On the one hand, we are so happy for Eileen - she has a once in a lifetime professional opportunity. On the other hand, we are sorry that we will no longer be working together on a daily basis. She has been a real asset to Long Wharf," said Managing Director Josh Borenstein and Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein in a statement.

Eileen first joined Long Wharf as the Director of Individual Giving over six years ago, and shortly thereafter became the Director of Development. During her tenure, Eileen has implemented the Global Health and the Arts series, a critical revamping of the theatre's planned giving program, several successful galas, and an innovative "Creative Conversation" with Malcolm Gladwell and Adam Gopnik. Perhaps most notably, Eileen was crucial for the success of the capital campaign which funded the renovation of the Claire Tow Stage. She also had a key role in raising funds for new work. Eileen had a significant role in developing some of our community engagement programs, especially our library partnership.

"Eileen has been a valued colleague. She has approached her job with a broad strategic eye, and she has a terrific talent of contextualizing our fundraising within Long Wharf's mission and objectives," Borenstein said. "Her special events are memorable ones, crafted with a narrative arc that makes them 'mission moments' and not just generic functions," Edelstein noted.

Wiseman joins The Tow Foundation, managing programmatic investments in higher education, medical innovation, and cultural institutions. She will also work with the organization's director of justice programs to come up with cross-disciplinary projects.

"From the moment I started seeing plays here as a theatre-obsessed high school actor in the 1970's, Long Wharf has held a special place in my heart, and always will. It has been a great privilege to work here these past six years with so many passionate, smart, committed staff and board members, donors, and partners in the community. Because of The Tow Foundation's close relationship with Long Wharf, I look forward to staying connected to the Theatre and helping in any way I can, and I will be there in the audience at every production, loving every minute," Wiseman said.
