Johnny Cash Tribute Show Coming to Ridgefield Playhouse, 6/13

Nobody lived life like Johnny Cash, and nobody plays Cash like Cash is King, the ultimate tribute show featuring the music and stories of Cash's life with more than 30 classic songs including "Folsom Prison Blues", "I Walk The Line", "Ring Of Fire" and many more. Johnny Cash is portrayed by the spot-on Brian Chicoine who will amaze at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, June 13, at 8 p.m. His voice has an uncanny similarity to the legendary singer's, and he has been described as the closest thing to the original that can possibly be. With period costumes, cover versions of Cash classics and between song banter that mirrors the personality of the man and his band, this tribute captures the essential Johnny Cash experience. An AllShows.com VIP Party Pass ($25 addt'l per person), which includes a pre-show cocktail party 6:30 - 7:15 p.m. with open bar, hors-d'oeuvre and priority parking is available for this show, which is part of the Doyle Coffin Singer/Songwriter and Xfinity Rock Series.

Cash is King, a full band Johnny Cash tribute show, brings back the experience of Cash and The Tennessee Three in their prime with a focus on the Sun Records and '60s prison concerts era. With an ever-growing interest in the music of Johnny Cash since the release of the biopic Walk the Line, people who never had the chance to see Cash live now have the opportunity to relive the magic that was...at The Ridgefield Playhouse. Johnny Cash is "brought to life" by Brian Chicoine. Backing Brian, as The Tennessee Three are Scott Tyler on lead guitar as Luther Perkins, who captures the groundbreaking Telecaster guitar style that defined the Cash sound. Portraying bassist Marshall Grant is Junior Cain who lays down the unmistakable low end of the Upright Doghouse Bass that was a staple of the Sun Records sound. Rounding out the combo on drums is Gary Tokarz as W.S. Holland, who brings it all together with beats that kept the boys steady as a train going down the track. Last but far from least is the June Carter portrayal by Vicky St. Pierre, who performs the classic duets complete with the sass and style of Johnny's wife!

For tickets ($35), call the box office (203-438-5795), or buy tickets online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT; ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
