The Hartt School presents the 2011-2012 Faculty Recital Series. Throughout the year Hartt's gifted faculty members, many of whom perform throughout the world, provide area audiences the opportunity to sample their musical talents right here in West Hartford. Many of The Hartt School's more than 400 performances throughout the year, including faculty recitals, are provided at no cost to the community. Visit www.hartford.edu/hartt for details.

The 2011-2012 Faculty Recital Series opens on Sunday, September 18, with Carrie Koffman, saxophone. with Juliana Hall and Maggie Francis piano; Benjamin Toth, percussion; and Joseph Abad, saxophone, join Koffman in works by Juliana Hall, Shulamit Ran, Kathryne Thompson, and Joan Tower. This performance is at 2:00 PM, in Berkman Recital Hall, University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford. Admission is free. Seating is limited.

Hartt faculty member Katie Lansdale, violin, with guest artist Robert Merfeld, piano, performs a faculty recital on Sunday, September 18, at 5:00 PM, in Berkman Recital Hall, University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford. Works include Bach's F Minor Sonata for violin and clavier; Dvorak's Romance; Brahms's Hungarian Dances, and more! Admission is free. Seating is limited

On Sunday, October 23, at 2:00 PM, in Berkman Recital Hall, the 2011 Hartt Alumni Award recipient and current composition faculty member David Macbride performs a recital of his works spanning 33 years in honor of his 60th Birthday. Macbride is joined by Hartt faculty and students including Janet Arms, flute; Yu-Hsin Chang, Chris Jasinski, Benjamin Toth, and Joey Van Hassell, percussion; the Adaskin String Trio (Emlyn Ngai, violin; Steve Larson, viola; Mark Fraser, cello) with Annie Trepanier, violin; and the Kelet Duo (Katalin Viszmeg, violin, and Pi-Hsun Shih, piano). The program includes: "Muse" for string quartet (2003); the premiere of "Kelet" for violin and piano (2010); the first movement of Triptych for marimba solo (1992); "A Special Light" for glockenspiel and piano (2004); "Murder" for flute and percussion (1978); "Timing" for two percussionists (1991); and "Conversing" for two percussionists from Percussion Park (2011). A Faculty Chamber Music Recital on November 20, at 2:00 PM in Berkman Recital Hall, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford, CT, features a broad range of repertoire. Admission is free. Seating is limited.

Join Mihai Tetel, cello, and friends for a faculty recital on Sunday, December 11, at 2:00 PM in Berkman Recital Hall, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford. He will play works by Bach, Debussy, and Arensky. Other Hartt faculty performing in this concert include Maggie Francis, piano; Anton Miller, violin; Rita Porfiris, viola; and Susan Robison, cello. Admission is free. Seating is limited.

Anton Miller, violin, performs on Sunday, January 22, at 2:00 PM, in Berkman Recital Hall, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford. Come hear staples of the string and piano chamber music repertoire performed by Hartt string and piano faculty, including Katherine Winterstein, violin; Rita Porfiris, viola; and David Westfall, piano. Join Rita Porfiris, viola, Anton Miller, violin, and Richard Provost, guitar, for a program of old and new music for guitar, violin, and viola, including a duo by University of Connecticut composer Kenneth Fuchs, on Sunday, February 12, at 2:00 PM, in Berkman Recital Hall, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford. Christopher Ladd, guitar performs on Sunday, March 18, at 2:00 PM, in Berkman Recital Hall, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford. Admission is free. Seating is limited.

The Hartt School is the comprehensive performing arts conservatory of the University of Hartford that offers innovative degree programs in music, dance, and theatre.
