What The Butler Saw opened on August 23rd at the Westport Country Playhouse, bringing with it a riveting tale of scandal, mischief, and blackmail. But don't think for a second, it's your typical drama. It isn't. This comedic performance hits you right on the funny bone and makes you laugh until your stomach hurts.

It all begins when Dr. Prentice (Robert Stanton) tries to seduce his possible soon-to-be secretary, Geraldine Barclay (Sarah Manton) during an interview. In attempts to lure her with his witty and slightly offbeat charm, he tells her she needs to be examined - and he, a psychiatrist, not a general practitioner is the perfect man for the job. It's then, when the young girl is behind a curtain de-clothing, that things get really out of hand. The doctor's blonde bombshell of a wife (Patricia Kalember) - with attraction to hard booze and young boys - walks in and it's up to the doctor to figure things out.

But figuring things out, he does not. Instead, he leads lie after lie, digging himself deeper into a wild - and hilariously delightful hole - involving a fellow doctor to claim he's insanity, and his wife to believe he fancies wearing women's clothing and young boys even more than she does.

And let's not forget the butler, Nicholas Beckett (Chris Ghaffari) who steals the show with a cross dressing act, brief nudity, and a scandalous tie to Mrs. Prentice that'll shock just about any family.

With an all-star cast, on-point dry sense of humor, and a storyline so ridiculous it's almost touching, the audience is left with split seams and sore facial muscles from a comedic play that's simply hilarious.

What The Butler Saw is currently on stage from now until September 10th.
