Last year, in the months following the death of iconic musician Joe Cocker, Shadowbox Live performed a nearly sold out run of A Tribute to Joe Cocker: Mad Dog and Englishman. It's popularity and zealous fan base resulted in an encore run last fall. Now, you can experience this incredibly moving performance for free in a special one-night only event at the Columbus Commons on Sept. 4th!

"The energy of this show has to be experienced to be believed," says Stacie Boord, Community Relations Director for Shadowbox Live. "This is some of the greatest, most soulful music ever written, and we love seeing the audience get swept up in it."

A Tribute to Joe Cocker: Mad Dog and Englishman features over twenty songs by the aptly named King of Woodstock, Joe Cocker. And to truly capture the authentic feel of the music, Shadowbox Live modeled the show after Cocker's Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour - an expanded band including brass instrumentalists and a large backup choir.

And speaking of that backup choir, Shadowbox Live is offering a very special and unique opportunity. For this Columbus Commons performance only, Shadowbox Live will feature the "With a Little Help from our Friends Community Choir."

"This is such an amazing opportunity for our mega fans," says Boord. "They can be onstage in front of thousands of people, singing with us during the performance!"

Spots in the Community Choir are being auctioned off as part of a fundraiser for the Shadowbox Live Academy.

"There are two ways to bid," says Boord. "You can take your chances in a blind auction and hope your bid is high enough to get you into the choir, or you can bypass the auction completely and donate $1000 to secure your spot on stage!"

Being a part of the performance is up for bidding, but, as always, coming to see it at the Columbus Commons is absolutely free.

"These shows have historically drawn literally thousands of people," says Boord. "So bring a blanket, come early, and get ready to sing along. Trust me, you do not want to miss this show!

A Tribute to Joe Cocker: Mad Dog and Englishman will be at the Columbus Commons on September 4th at 8:30 PM. Admission is free.
