The Bronzeville Comedy Showcase, Hosted by Brian Babylon, Begins 7/16
The annual summer Bronzeville Comedy Showcase, presented by Vocalo and emceed by comedian Brian Babylon, returns for year seven. An outdoor summer tradition where comedians try out new sets in front of great audiences, the Bronzeville Comedy Showcase is a local comedy hub that brings together diverse comedians from across Chicagoland. The once weekly showcase will now take place every other Wednesday beginning July 16 at Bronzeville's Blanc Gallery, 4445 S. Martin Luther King Drive. 773-373-4320. Admission is free.
The Bronzeville Comedy Showcase is emceed and curated by Brian Babylon, host of Vocalo's Morning AMp and panelist on WBEZ Chicago's and NPR's Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!
"I have been doing this show for seven years now, and it's always one of the best places to see comedy," says Babylon. "We decided last year to move the show to a bigger venue to accommodate the large crowd that has made this the best summertime comedy showcase. The Blanc Gallery is a swanky art space with a large outdoor area that takes this comedy show to the next level. This is gearing up to be the best summer to date."
Shows are at 7 p.m. every other Wednesday, July 16-August 27, rain or shine. Performances will be held in the outside courtyard at Blanc. In inclement weather, the showcase is moved indoors. Cash bar.
