Chicago’s acclaimed Jefferson Award nominated actress and winner of the After Dark Award for "Outstanding Cabaret Artist" and the Chicago Cabaret Professionals Gold Coast Award, Suzanne Petri stars in her celebrated one-woman tribute to screen legend Marlene Dietrich. An Evening With Marlene: A Tribute to Marlene Dietrich the Actress, the Music, the Desire will be performed for three nights only at Davenport’s, 1383 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago on Thursday, March 1, Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3 at 8pm. There is a $20 cover charge with a two-drink minimum. Due to the high demand for this limited run, reservations are recommended by calling 773-278-1830 or online at www.DavenportsPianoBar.com.

Although it has been twenty years since the movie icon has passed (May, 1992), Petri brings Marlene to life with her tour de force tribute. The Chicago Tribune’s Howard Reich praised Suzanne’s performance saying "when it came to singing Dietrich’s vintage repertoire, Petri cut to the core of this music, capturing much of the melancholy and world-weariness that helped make Dietrich a global star."

Showcasing her versatility, Petri will take the audience on an eclectic musical journey. Performing such Dietrich classics as Boys In the Backroom, Falling In Love Again and Jonny, Petri will also be joined by Jim Cox on bass and Dez Desormeaux on reeds with Bob Moreen on piano and as musical director. Suzanne’s husband and one of Chicago’s most respected actors Robert Breuler joins her performing Noel Coward's special intro he wrote for Marlene at the Cafe de Paris in London.
American Blues Theater ensemble member John Mohrlein appearing as Jack Benny, who with Petri as Marlene, performs Baby It’s Cold Outside.

Petri’s newest CD recording Marlene Muzik Live At The Skokie Theatre is now available through her website at www.SuzannePetri.com. Studio versions of several songs performed in the Dietrich tribute are also featured on Suzanne’s critically acclaimed debut studio CD Das Grand Tour. That recording is available online from CD Baby.com, Suzanne’s web site, as well as digitally at itunes.com.

From stage to TV, from nightclubs to concert halls such as New York’s Jazz at Lincoln Center, Suzanne Petri has established herself as one of the Windy City’s premier entertainers. Suzanne has performed to SRO crowds at some of the Chicago area’s top stages including Pritzker Pavilion Millennium Park, Park West, Drury Lane/Water Tower, Davenport’s, Maxim’s, Cyrano’s Bistrot and Toulouse on the Park. The nationally recognized cabaret diva, Suzanne has been featured at the Chicago Humanities Festival and the Mabel Mercer Foundation’s Cabaret Conventions in New York City and Chicago. Her one-woman cabaret shows have won rave reviews and critical acclaim including several "Ten Best Shows of the Year" citations by both After Dark Chicago and Cabaret Hotline Online.

A true Renaissance artist, the Jefferson Award-nominated actress has appeared in acclaimed stage productions such as Zorba; motion pictures such as Milwaukee, Minnesota with Bruce Dern and Randy Quaid, Disney’s Just Visiting with Christina Applegate and Penniless: One Man’s Crusade; TV roles on the CBS series Early Edition, the USA Network’s film Evil Has A Face with Sean Young and the Entertainment Channel’s A Christmas Carol. An ensemble member of American Blues Theater, she has produced, directed and appeared on dozens of Chicago stages including The Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, Chicago Dramatists, Victory Gardens and Northlight Theatre.
