Mary-Arrchie's SUPERIOR DONUTS Extends Through Dec. 31

Due to popular demand, Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co.'s hit production of SUPERIOR DONUTS will add three final weeks of performances – extending through December 31, 2012 at The Royal George Cabaret Theatre, 1641 N. Halsted St. in Chicago. Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tracy Letts and directed by Matt Miller, the critically acclaimed remount features nearly all of the original Mary-Arrchie cast members. A special New Year's Eve performance on Monday, December 31 at 8 pm will mark the show's final performance at The Royal George, where the remount enjoyed a two-month run, including two extensions.

The new block of tickets for December 12 – 31, 2012 will go on sale Friday, November 30 at 10 am at the Royal George Box Office by calling (312) 988-9000 or in person during business hours (Tuesdays – Saturdays 10 am – 8 pm, Sundays Noon – 3 pm). Tickets will also be available through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com. For additional information, visit www.maryarrchie.com.

SUPERIOR DONUTS is the story of Arthur Przybyszewski, an aging anti-war activist and the proprietor of a rundown donut shop in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago. When Arthur hires Franco Wicks, a fast-talking African-American kid with big dreams and bigger troubles, Arthur's world is quickly changed-quite possibly for the better.

Returning for the role of Arthur is Mary-Arrchie founding member and Artistic Director, Richard Cotovsky. Mr. Cotovsky has a long history with the play: he was a part of the original development workshops at Steppenwolf, understudied Michael McKean in the 2008 Steppenwolf production, and later went on to play the role at the Studio Theatre in Washington, D.C. in 2010. Returning in the role of Franco Wicks is Preston Tate, Jr. Mr. Tate's work in Superior Donuts earned him a Jeff Award nomination for Best Actor, as well as the Denzel Washington Award for Most Promising Actor at the 2012 Black Theatre Alliance Awards.

Also reprising their roles are Millie Hurley (Randy), Bradford Stevens (James, through December 2), Paige Smith (Max), Karl Potthoff (Luther) and BRyan Kelly (Kiril). Joining the cast for the remount are Abu Ansari (James, December 5 - 31) Christopher Borek (Kevin Magee) and Joanna Maclay (Lady Boyle) with Patricia Musker (Randy, select performances) and Greg Rothman (Max, select performances).

Mary Arrchie's original production of SUPERIOR DONUTS was honored with four non-Equity Joseph Jefferson nominations in last season's awards ceremony, including nominations for Best Fight Design for David Woolley, Best Actor for Preston Tate, Jr., Best Supporting Actor for Susan Monts-Bologna and Best Production.

"Following twelve sold out weeks at Mary-Arrchie and a successful remount at Metropolis this past summer, Superior Donuts has become the best selling show in Mary-Arrchie's 27 year history and a true audience favorite," comments Producing Director Carlo Garcia. 'The material, which centers around unlikely friendships, fading Chicago culture and the pursuit of the American Dream, resonates in our hearts as Chicagoans and is a story that we are committed to re-tell," adds Garcia.

The production team for SUPERIOR DONUTS includes: Jenniffer Thuysing & Bob Groth (Scenic Design), Stefin Seberl (Costume Design), Matthew Gawryk (Lighting Designer), Joe Court (Sound Designer), Katherine Greenleaf (Props Design), David Woolley (Fight Design), Jim Stevens (Assistant Director), Alison Barnes (Assistant Stage Manager), Jennifer McLendon (Stage Manager) and Carlo Garcia (Producing Director).
