We Banjo 3

Tuesday, August 29

$18/$22/$25/$28

We Banjo 3, award-winning quartet from Galway, Ireland, is comprised of brothers Enda & Fergal Scahill and Martin & David Howley. They deliver a ground-breaking mixture of Irish music and old-time American and Bluegrass influences in a fusion of styles that they dub "Celtgrass." They have released four albums to date, the latest of which, String Theory, was released in July 2016. Half traditional covers, half original material, it finds the band's reverence for their roots given a contemporary twist, further solidifying the common bonds between the two styles.

Deacon Blues - America's All-Star Tribute to Steely Dan

Friday, September 1

$25/$28/$32/$35

Deacon Blues, America's premier Steely Dan tribute experience, replicates the music that defined a decade, a nation and an entire jazz-rock genre. The 11-member collective of Chicago-area studio and stage musicians is dedicated to presenting the music of Walter Becker and Donald Fagen. This stunning collective is the personification of what "The Dan" did on record - gathering top studio musicians for their albums - but for live performances. With support from legendary Chicago FM radio station personalities such as Bob Stroud ("The Drive") and Scott Mackay ("The River"), The Deacon Blues debuted their first album of original music, in a similar musical landscape as "The Dan," in 2016.

Incognito

Monday, October 16; 7pm & 9:30

$55/$58/$65/$68

Incognito is a pioneer of the acid jazz movement which has delighted listeners and dancers for decades. With deep roots in the 1970s jazz/funk/soul world, Incognito has scored hits with versions of Stevie Wonder's "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing" and Ronnie Laws' "Always There," selling more than a million records worldwide in the process. The band returns to City Winery Chicago celebrating a career that spans almost four decades, with many Top 10 hits to their name in addition to producing and collaborating with legendary artists - including George Benson, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan and many more.

Lizz Wright with Lyric

Wednesday-Thursday, November 1-2

$35/$38/$45/$48

Singer-songwriter Lizz Wright is known for her earthy alto voice and emotive yet straightforward vocal serenades. Growing up in the Pentecostal church, Wright wasn't allowed to listen to popular music. Oddly-or maybe serendipitously-the historic night when she really made the leap from her early musical life to her present one involved putting a "secular" spin on a spiritual. Wright has been the recipient of critical acclaim and ever-increasing audiences since her debut album, Salt, in 2003. She has six albums to date, and her latest, Grace, is set to release September 15.

An Evening with Herb Alpert & Lani Hall

Monday-Tuesday, November 6-7

$65/$75/$85/$90

Musician, producer, artist, and philanthropist, Herb Alpert is a man with a profound passion. A legendary trumpet player, Alpert's extraordinary musicianship has earned him five number one hits, nine Grammy Awards, the latest from his 2014 album, Steppin' Out, 15 Gold albums, 14 Platinum albums and has sold over 72 million records. Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass propelled his sound into the pop music limelight, at one point outselling the Beatles two to one. In all, Alpert has recorded over 30 albums and produced for many other artists, including Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66, Stan Getz, Michel Colombier and Gato Barbieri. At City Winery, he performs with his wife, Grammy Award-winning vocalist and producer Lani Hall, with whom he has been touring since 2006.
