Gilda's Club Chicago, a cancer support organization that ensures no one faces cancer alone, hosted its annual "Night of a Thousand Noogies," at Park West on October 15. Chicago's own Second City comedians performed signature sketch comedy routines and improv skits, with the help of emcee TJ Shanoff. All money raised from the event supports the 350 free activities each month at the downtown Clubhouse and satellite locations.

Notable Chicago celebrities took the stage for a light roasting by the cast of Second City, including Candace "Candid Candace" Jordan, Geoffrey Baer from WTTW, Emmy Award winning journalist Nicole Suarez, Goose Island Brewer Diana Rodriguez, and Jeff Hoover from WGN Morning News. Attendees enjoyed some light bites provided by Blue Plate Catering and Warm Belly Bakery, an open bar, exciting silent auction items including a Buddy Guy autographed album, and tried their hands at raffle prizes.

The event raised more than $50,000 for Gilda's Club Chicago. All proceeds support the 350 free activities each month at the Club and satellite locations.

"Our free program complements medical care through essential social, educational and emotional support with activities for anyone impacted by cancer," said Gilda's Club Chicago Chief Executive Officer, LauraJane Hyde. "Our namesake Gilda Radner was in the business of creating laughter, even throughout her diagnosis of ovarian cancer, so we continue her legacy through an event like Night of a Thousand Noogies by sharing laughter and continuing to ensure no one has to face cancer alone."

Eighteen years ago, Gilda's Club Chicago opened their Red Door on Wells Street, offering a welcoming environment of care and support to Chicago. Over the years, Gilda's Club has grown far beyond its Clubhouse in downtown Chicago to locations in schools, businesses and hospitals across the community.
