Stumble out of bed and tumble on over to the Flat Rock Playhouse! The 2016 season for the State Theatre of North Carolina will continue with the modern musical comedy Dolly Parton's 9 to 5, which will run from July 28th through August 20th at the Clyde & Nina Allen Mainstage in the village of Flat Rock.

Based on the hit 1980 movie starring Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda and Parton herself, 9 to 5 is the first - and to date only - musical written by Dolly Parton. With a script by Patricia Resnick, based on the screenplay by Resnick and Colin Higgins, Parton penned both music and lyrics for this new musical adaptation that opened on Broadway in 2009. Featuring the hit song 9 to 5, the hilarious plot for the musical is true to the action of the film which centers around three secretaries who team up to end the tyranny of their "sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot" of a boss.

The cast for 9 to 5 will be Flat Rock Playhouse favorite Marcy McGuigan as Violet Newstead, the role originated by Lily Tomlin. Ryah Nixon, fresh off her triumphant performance as Dyanne in the Flat Rock Playhouse sold out hit production of Million Dollar Quartet, stars as Doralee Rhodes, the role originated by Dolly Parton herself. Newcomer to the Flat Rock Playhouse stage is Natalie Storrs, who will play the role of Judy Bernly, originated by Jane Fonda for the film.

Also featured in the cast is Patrick Ryan Sullivan as "the boss" Franklin Hart, Tauren Hagans as his devoted, albeit fanatical, secretary Roz Keith and Ruth Pferdehirt as his loyal, loving and clueless wife, Missy. The rest of the cast will feature Monte J. Howell, Ryan Guerra, Erin Rubico, David Lind, Amy Jones and Scott Treadway. The ensemble will be comprised of members of the 2016 Apprentice Company.

9 to 5 will be directed and choreographed by Amy Jones, who helmed both Fly and Gypsy for the 2015 season at Flat Rock Playhouse. Resident Scenic Designer Dennis C. Maulden is designing the set, joined by CJ Barnwell, Ashli Arnold and Kurt Conway as the Lighting, Costume and Sound Designers respectively. Bill Muñoz will be Stage Manager with Lindsey A. Moss as Assistant Stage Manager. Paul Feraldi is Props Master.

9 to 5 is presented by Mainstage Series Sponsor The Henderson County Tourism Development Authority (www.VisitHendersonvilleNC.org) with BMW of Asheville serving as Opening Night Sponsor. The Executive Producer of 9 to 5 is Tryon Estates, with WNC Magazine as the Media Sponsor.
