Ephrata Performing Arts Center's 2017 season is all about journeys. Whether the journey is about love or loss, self-discovery or humanity, much can be learned by following the characters through their life-changing stories.

The first show is part of the popular Kids4Kids series, which allows kids ages 6-17 to get involved with the arts in a performance designed for child audiences. Disney's The Lion King Jr. (February 3-19) is an adaptation of the 1994 Disney film.

Shakespeare's King Lear (March 16-25) is often considered to be one of the greatest plays ever written. The heartbreaking story follows the king as he is stripped of his power and learns about himself and humanity in the process.

Hair (April 27-May 13) is an edgy rock musical centered on the hippie counterculture of the Vietnam War era.

The Cripple of Inishmaan (June 8-17) is a dark and sweet comedy-drama set in a remote 1930's Irish village, whose residents go a bit crazier than normal when they learn that American filmmakers will be making a movie in their town.

The Music Man (July 20-August 5) is a popular classic about a con man attempting to prey on the naïve residents of River City Iowa.

Doubt (September 7-16) is a relevant and gripping story about child abuse, incrimination, obsession, and doubt in the Catholic Church, but its message reaches well beyond the church and takes a closer look at humanity.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (October 19-November 4) is another classic. This dark musical thriller tells the story of a barber set on revenge in a way that only the music of Stephen Sondheim can.

Is there a more iconic journey than that of Dorothy following the yellow brick road? The Wizard of Oz (December 7-23) follows Dorothy and her companions on her journey home. After all, there's no place like home!
