MAC Seeks Submissions for Songwriting Awards; Deadline Oct 15

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) is soliciting submissions for the 6th Annual Dottie Burman and John Wallowitch Songwriting Awards. The Submission Period runs through Wednesday, October 15th. Winners will be awarded $500 cash, a certificate, and a performance of their song at the upcoming MAC event MAC presents They Write the Songs, to be held on November 16th at Engleman Recital Hall at Baruch College.

Submissions are open to songwriters who have not yet achieved significant recognition in the music industry, and who have not previously won an award from MAC for songwriting. It is not necessary to be a member of MAC to submit. All eligible songwriters are encouraged to submit. For more information, visit www.MACnyc.com.

THE DOTTIE BURMAN AWARD

The recipient will receive $500 and a certificate. One of their songs will be performed at the MAC event "MAC presents They Write The Songs" at Engleman Recital Hall at Baruch College on November 16th.

Qualifications:
• Songwriter must be age 40 or over.
• Songwriter cannot thus far have received significant recognition in the music industry, and may not have previously won an award from MAC for songwriting.
• Songwriter must submit three songs (MP3 only) via email with accompanying lyrics in the body of the email only. No PDF or Word attachments or links.
• SUBMISSION EMAIL: BurmanAward@gmail.com
• Each song should be emailed in a separate email. Please send all 3 emails at the same time or as close as possible.
• For each email, in the subject, put your last name and the song title (i.e. Sondheim-Send In The Clowns)
• Each email must also contain your name, the name(s) of your collaborators, and a contact phone number.
• Collaborations are eligible, provided that:
(i) all of the collaborators meet the qualifications,
(ii) all three submitted songs were written by the same writing team, and
(iii) none of the collaborators is also submitting individually or is a member of another writing team that is entering into the competition.

THE JOHN WALLOWITCH AWARD

The recipient will receive $500 and a certificate. One of their songs will be performed at the MAC event "MAC presents They Write The Songs" at Engleman Recital Hall at Baruch College on November 16th.
