One year after meeting its crowdfunding goal on Kickstarter and more than two years of development, 59 Days in New York launched its season finale on Youtube last week. Click below to watch the final episode, which follows Amy's last day at her internship and whether or not she'll get to pursue her dream!

Through nine episodes, the musical follows aspiring singer-songwriter, Amy, as she strives to make it in NYC with only 59 budgeted days before running out of money. Armed with song and her cockeyed optimism, Amy vlogs about leaving home, interning and pursuing her dreams in spite of all odds.

"This project has evolved tremendously over the two year development process," said 59 Days creator May-Elise Martinsen. "When I first started the show, we were a handful of people and I was funding the episodes with my meager savings. By Episode 5, we had a $13,000 budget from our Kickstarter campaign. And when you watch the last two episodes, you'll see how the series has grown - involving some 50 crew members, actors and musicians."

Of the handful of musical webseries online today, Martinsen says 59 Days in New York is unique in its emphasis on music.

"In most of the musical webseries I've seen, the music is not a driving force in developing the characters or moving the plot forward," said Martinsen. "The musical typically feels like it's there for humor's sake without attention to quality. While 59 Days is a comedy, we take the music seriously."

Each episode of 59 Days in New York is built around an original song, often drawing inspiration from a variety of musical styles. The score spans the gamut from a Glee-styled Episode 5 to a full ballroom dream ballet a la Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! in Episode 8 and a Dolly Parton-esque country song, featuring Dolly Parton impersonator CJ Morgan from Las Vegas.

"It's been an incredible experience to write a piece of original musical theatre that fits the web medium," says Martinsen. "Now that its complete, audiences can enjoy it whenever and in their pajamas, if they so desire."
