The UK's Daily Mail reports that a former CBS reporter is now questioning Fox News host Bill O'Reilly's claims regarding an incident which occured while the newsman was covering the Falklands War in 1982. O'Reilly is "vehemently defended the allegations."

CBS reporter Eric Engberg, who covered the Falklands War alongside O'Reilly in 1982, posted a message on his Facebook page which calls into question many of the statements made on Friday night's The O'Reilly Factor. Read the statement in full here.

Engberg says the 65-year-old journalist was unpprofessional when he lied about being the sole reporter on the streets during a riot. He also states that O'Reilly was ordered out of Argentina by CBS execs for being a 'disruptive force'. Engberg goes on to reveal that the area was more an 'expense account zone' than a 'war zone', as Reilly described it, adding that the actual conflict was occurring thousands of miles away.

During a 2009 interview, O'Reilly told a Hamptons TV station, 'I was out there pretty much by myself because the other CBS news correspondents were hiding in the hotel.' Engberg insists that this was an 'absolute lie', and that the entire crew was out that evening 'exhibiting their usual courage.'

In 2004, O'Reilly wrote: 'Having survived a combat situation in Argentina during the Falklands war, I know that life-and-death decisions are made in a flash.'
