As first reported on TVLine.com, The CW has given the greenlight to a SEX AND THE CITY prequel series to be titled 'The Carrie Diaries'. The series will come from 'Gossip Girls' executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. It will center on the life of journalist Carrie Bradshaw during her high school years.

Along with 'The Carrie Diaries', the network has also ordered a pilot for a new series entitled 'Arrow' which will be a modern-day look at the DC Comics hero Green Arrow. The project is to be penned by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim.

Also in the works for The CW will be a loose remake of the 1980's nightime drama 'Beauty and The Beast' which starred Linda Hamilton. The new, updated version will put a modern spin on the original series.  It was recently announced that The CW has also ordered a pilot for 'Cult' a thriller series.
