The Red Devils and the Citizens come into the match with good prospects of catching up to league leader Chelsea and securing a sport in next season's European tournaments. Manchester United, with 62 points, has another chance to play at home after its recent 3-1 win over Aston Villa, while Manchester City repeats its role as visitor following a 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace. For the first time since November 2013, Man U currently ranks higher in the league tables than its fellow Mancunians. Since 1906, the teams have played each other 139 times in the First Division (Premier League, as of 1992), with 53 victories for the Reds vs. 41 for the Citizens and 45 ties.

Star players to watch include Argentina's Ángel Di María and Marcos Rojo, Colombia's Radamel Falcao and Ecuador's Antonio Valencia, who will take the field for the home team. Manchester City fans, for their part, have high hopes for Argentine forward Sergio Agüero, who has scored 17 times so far this season. He'll be joined by two other outstanding teammates from the South American country, Pablo Zavaleta and Martín Demichelis.
