ET reports that pop star Taylor Swift has announced that she will donate $1 million to help the victims of the massive flooding that has devastated the state of Louisiana in the past several days.

In a statement to The Associated Press yesterday, Swift recalled the generous reception she received from fans during her 1989 World Tour stop in Louisiana. "We began the 1989 World Tour in Louisiana, and the wonderful fans there made us feel completely at home," said the Grammy Award winner. "The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heartbreaking."

She added, "I encourage those who can to help out and send your love and prayers their way during this devastating time."

Lady Gaga also announced this week that she will contribute to the rescue efforts. The multi-Grammy winner took to Twitter to share:"My thoughts and prayers to all of our loved ones in Louisiana suffering through the flood. My family and I are donating to relief efforts."
