Stand-Up Comic Dulce Sloan Takes Top Honors at 12th Annual STANDUP NBC

Dulcé Sloan took home top honors at NBCUniversal's 12th annual "StandUp NBC" comedy showcase held at the famed Hollywood Improv comedy club in Los Angeles. For her first-place prize, Sloan will be signed to a talent holding deal with the network.

The event was hosted by actor/comedian Tone Bell (NBC's "Truth Be Told"), who was one of four "StandUp NBC" alumni who starred in NBC series this year - Brandon T. Jackson ("Mr. Robinson"), Ron Funches ("Undateable") and Lil'Rel Howery ("The Carmichael Show").

"Every year 'StandUp NBC' finds unknown comics with solid potential for our programming," said executive producer Jandiz Cardoso. "Last year we discovered Lavar Walker, who was immediately brought into the next season of 'Last Comic Standing.'"

The night capped a talent search effort to assemble the funniest emerging comics of diverse backgrounds that spanned Atlanta, Dallas, Seattle and New York.

"There were so many talented standups in NBCUniversal's 'StandUp NBC' showcase and we are excited to have a talent hold deal with the hilarious Dulcé Sloan," said Grace Wu, Executive Vice President of Casting for NBC Entertainment, in congratulating the winner. This year's nine finalists were selected from a pool of more than 40 semifinalists across the nation.

The 2015 finalists included Alex Sparling, Alvin Irby, Christina Galston, Ian Aber, Jesus Sepulveda, Orlando Leyba, Trenton Davis and Randy Syphax, in addition to Sloan.

Select finalists will also join the "StandUp NBC" college tour. In partnership with the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA), the participants on tour are expected to perform at more than 50 college campuses nationwide. Additionally, select finalists will be featured in February at the NACA national convention in Louisville, Ky.

Sloan was honored earlier this year as a New Face at the prestigious Montreal Just for Laughs Festival. She has also appeared on ABC's "Resurrection" and the FOX NFL SUNDAY pre-game show, "Riggle's Picks" with Rob Riggle.
