Spring Premiere of Home Improvement Series GEORGE TO THE RESCUE Set for Today

Back for a fifth season, NBC's George to the Rescue finds home improvement guru George Oliphant tackling home renovation projects across America, offering help and hope to deserving families. George to the Rescue's 2014 Spring Season premieres locally on NBC 4 New York on Saturday, March 22 at 10 AM EST. Viewers in other markets should check local listings for airtimes.

The premiere episode of George to the Rescue introduces the touching story of the Everett family, which suffered a huge loss during Superstorm Sandy. The story was also featured in a TODAY Show segment (story (http://www.today.com/health/well-find-joy-each-other-college-student-raising-her-siblings-8C11487720)). The Everett family, who reside in Randolph, NJ, were returning from their farm "Blue Crest" in Long Valley, New Jersey on the eve of Superstorm Sandy. Due to the high winds invoked by the impending storm, a huge tree that had been uprooted came crashing down, landing squarely on the roof of the family car, instantly killing the parents. Miraculously, the parents' two boys, Theo and Pierce, who were in the back of the car, survived with only minor injuries. The eldest daughter, Zoe Everett, only 19 at the time, immediately became legal guardian of the boys, as well as a younger sister who was not in the car at the time of the incident.

Zoe Everett, who exhibits a strength and maturity well beyond her years, said that upon learning of her parents' passing, "it felt like a switch went off in me that was just maternal beyond belief."

As they mourn the loss of their parents, the Everett siblings are now the focus of the season's first renovation rescue in Randolph, New Jersey. In addition to the sun porch and office needing major renovation, the house was disorganized and cluttered.

To help with this rescue, George teamed up with the best contractors and designers, including Matt Wendorff of RPI Design Build, Barbara Moore of B. Moore Design, Pete Lorenzo of Cluttercrashers and Robert Mu, roofing expert, along with roofing supplier Standard and GAF. The George to the Rescue team work hard to fully renovate the house and restore the Everett's' home, including a brand new roof.

In the next episode, George and his team come to the rescue of the Dicola family. After losing her handyman husband to cancer, a loving mother's tiny fixer-upper is transformed into a spacious oasis for her and her daughters to enjoy.

Upcoming episodes take George and his team into the dilapidated home of the McIntyre family. A bathroom leak has created a hole in their kitchen ceiling. Luckily, George finds the source and takes care of the issue once and for all. Tune in to watch George and his team rescue their home, while also having a little fun with it along the way.

The following Saturday, in the fourth episode of the season, George and his team go off to help a resourceful high school chef who, after years of sacrificing for her students and family, is now the focus of attention. George and his team of contractors and designers plan to give this altruistic teacher The Kitchen makeover of her culinary dreams.

And finally, George to the Rescue takes you into the home of the Gonzalez family, one that has been battling a three-year basement renovation project that should have only taken three months. The family's eldest member, the grandma, is getting close to retirement and the family is anxious to have their basement finished in time to care for her.
