Sondheim's 'Move On' & More Make Josh Groban's YoungArts Playlist
Internationally celebrated recording artist and performer Josh Groban shares some of his most inspiring and personal favorite musical selections as part of a special playlist now available to peruse and enjoy in anticipation of the upcoming HBO documentary Josh Groban: SING YOUR SONG.
"Move On" from SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, which Groban himself has memorably sung alongside Barbara Cook, as well as songs by Paul Simon, Bjork, Mel Torme and more made the list, now available to view and sample in full at the official site here.
Discussing "Move On", Groban says, "This song, from one of my favorite Sondheim musicals is an homage to the tough artistic decisions anyone who dares to be different has to make. 'The choice may have been mistaken, the choosing was not, you have to move on.'"
Presented as part of HBO's YoungArts MasterClass series, Josh Groban: SING YOUR SONG is described as such: "The HBO Family documentary special Josh Groban: SING YOUR SONG: YOUNGARTS MASTERCLASS is the newest episode of the two-time Emmy®-nominated series, featuring vocalist extraordinaire Josh Groban as he mentors a group of aspiring singers through the musical journey of writing, recording and performing an original song. The young virtuosos which were selected by the National YoungArts Foundation--the national organization that identifies and supports the next generation of artists--come together for a workshop with Groban and are surprised by the opportunity to perform the song Groban's upcoming concert in Boston. During the writing process the students become wary of their collaboration, Groban seizes the opportunity to zero in on their individual strengths and explains the goal is to find, "the common musical sentence that brings the three of you together." Through further experimentation their song begins to take shape. "We might have something!" an excited Elena announces. The original song will be available to purchase on Spotify and iTunes."
