TVLine writes that Oscar-winner Shirley MacLaine (Downton Abbey) is set to appear in an upcoming arc on FOX's GLEE. Her first episode will air later this month.

MacLaine will play "a powerful New York socialite intent on turning recent Big Apple transplant Blaine into a superstar".

The show has now shifted its focus on storylines set in New York City, where many of McKinley High graduates, including Blaine (Darren Criss), Sam (Chord Overstreet), Artie (Kevin McHale) and Mercedes (Amber Riley) joined their fellow New Directions alumni, including Rachel (Lea Michele) and Kurt (Chris Colfer.)

MacLaine's upcoming big screen projects include Wild Oats, The Locals and Jim Button. Her TV credits include Downton Abbey, Shirley's WORLD and more.

Her Broadway credits include her solo shows Shirley MacLaine on Broadway and Shirley MacLaine, as well as The Pajama Game and Me and Juliet.

Glee airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on FOX.
